Read to your kids

Being married to a teacher and, as a parent, I can tell you one of the simplest things you can do with your children, that will have the biggest impact on their schooling. Are you ready?

Reading to children

Read to them, every night. Doesn’t really matter what you read, but a children’s Bible is a classic. It will give them a basis in Western literature.

While you are with them, ask them how their day went, the good and the bad. Let them know they have your attention for this moment every day, or at least ever second day. And you could even say a prayer to calm their fears.

Teachers can tell children whose parents read to them, and those who don’t. It’s that impactful.

And it makes the biggest difference if your parents never read to you. You’ll transform their world.
