The gender pay gap is terrible – the fact that woman are consistently paid less than men is to our shame.

But have got something fundamentally wrong in this equation. Is the way we evaluate gender difference perpetuating the problem, rather than solving it?
Doesn’t an evaluation based on income simply reinforce the patriarchal, capitalist paternal system? Like attributing value to woman based on their ability to grow beards?
What if we measured the gender gap by work-life balance, time with family, compassion: more wholistic measures of quality of life, not simply quantity. Women would dominate.
What we use to evaluate, becomes the thing we aspire to. By putting income on a pedestal, we idolise it. Let’s dethrone this capitalist, patriarchal measure and put other things in its place. This would fundamentally change the game.
