I’m so challenged by this quote. I can’t even remember where I read it: “In an organisation or in a relationship, if things are not going well, what conversations are we not having?”

When things are not going well in some part of our lives, the easy answer is to blame techniques, processes, procedures. If we just change the rules, the structure, the system, things will improve.
Now, sometimes problems are caused by technical issues, but too often what we have is personality issues. It’s much easier to tinker with the system than to have a difficult conversation; to resolve a misunderstanding or personality clash.
I’d rather change departments, change the rules, than change myself.
If things are not working in your marriage, workplace or team, what conversations are you avoiding?
