In today’s world, I get the attraction of a cult. A group that you can belong to that has an alternative set of beliefs, often reminiscent of an older, simpler time.

If you join a cult, you’re now part of an exclusive community that has a truth that allows you to check out of the complex, changing, challenging world.
You no longer have to engage in the everyday – what a relief! You can justifiably shut that world out and live in the oasis that is the cult – a veritable garden of Eden in the urban jungle, where someone else does your thinking for you!
I see the attraction – but do you see the danger? Blind allegiance? Detached from reality? Starts like Eden, ends in hell.
I’m afraid, our complex, challenging, changing world is the safe place.
