There’s been a raft of films depicting Jesus Christ in recent years but a new film is set to take that to another level with a virtual reality film of His life slated for release this Christmas.
US-based Autumn Productions has reportedly teamed up with virtual reality production company VRWERX to create a 90 minute film, Jesus VR – The Story of Christ, which will be playable on all current major VR platforms including PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift.
The film, which takes in the major events of Christ’s life on Earth, was reportedly shot in October last year in 360 degree video on location in Matera, Italy – the same village which also provided the backdrop for the Mel Gibson film, The Passion of the Christ.
Producer David Hansen reportedly said in a statement that virtual reality was the perfect way to tell Christ’s story with the viewers able to “truly feel they are there with Jesus and His disciples”.
According to Variety, the cast features Tim Fellingham as Jesus, Mish Boyko as Peter, Christian Serritiello as Andrew, Matteo Carlomagno as John and Rhys Howells as Judas.
