Sparklit unveil Australian Christian Book of the Year shortlist

The shortlist for the SparkLit Australian Christian Book of the Year includes a book examining the role of religion in Australia, a biography of Christian scholar Leon Morris, and a “spiritual handbook” for survivors of sexual abuse.

The award, which will be announced at a special awards ceremony on 18th August, was won last year by Dr Michael Gladwin for his book, Captains of the Soul: A history of Australian Army chaplains.

This year’s shortlist includes Roy Williams’ Post-God Nation: How Religion Fell Off The Radar In Australia And What Might Be Done To Get It Back On (ABC), Jane N Dowling’s Child Arise! The Courage To Stand (David Lovell Publishing), Michael R Stead’s Zechariah: The Lord Returns (Aquila), Peter Stiles’ Trumped By Grace (Poetica Christi Press), Colin Barnes’ They Conspire Against Your People: The European Churches And The Holocaust (King’s Divinity Press), Sheridan Voysey’s Resilient (Discovery House), Neil Bach’s Leon Morris (Authentic Media Ltd), Ralph Mayhew’s The Anonymous Leader, Christobel Mattingley’s Maralinga’s Long Shadow (Allen & Unwin), and Bernie Power’s Understanding Jesus And Muhammad: What The Ancient Texts Say About Them (Acorn Press).
