London’s double-decker buses to carry words of Christ in Easter campaign aimed at bringing ‘hope’

London’s famous red double-decker buses are to be employed in an campaign to take the words of Jesus Christ out onto the streets this Easter.

The ‘Quote Jesus’ campaign, which has already undergone a trial, will be officially launched on 10th April and run for two weeks. Among Jesus’ quotes to be featured on the sides of 75 of the Routemaster buses are: “Everyone who lives and believes in me will never die”, “In my Father’s house, there are many mansions” and “I am the way, the truth and the life”.

Howard Conder, founder of Christian television channel Revelation TV and described as the “creative force” behind the campaign, said in a statement on the campaign website that in the wake of the recent attack in Westminster “it is clear that hope, or to be precise the lack of hope, is becoming an issue in this generation”.

“We think the Bible has a lot say about ‘hope’, and our vision for this campaign is to influence the hearts, minds and perceptions of this generation, to offer them hope and faith for a better future…The Bible is a book of ‘hope’ and this generation is missing out because it has little knowledge of what the Bible has to say”.

Mr Conder told Premier Christian radio the concept, which came to him last December, was a “unique God idea” aimed at reaching out to people who may not encounter the words of Christ elsewhere. “It’s a silent, gentle witness to each individual,” he said.

The campiagn will also be run online and on social media and organisers say there are plans to take the campaign to other locations in the UK and around the world as well as expanding it to include TV and billboards.
