Four people were killed in another attack on a church in northern Burkina Faso, Agenzia Fides reports.
The attack on a Catholic church in the village of Toulfé – located about 20 kilometres from Titao, capital of Loroum province, occurred when eight armed attackers entered the church where the congregation had gathered to celebrate Mass on Sunday.
In a statement, Justin Kientega, the Bishop of Ouahigouya, said: “The Christian community of Toulfe was the target of a terrorist attack gathered for Sunday prayers. The attack left four of the faithful dead”.
Three people died during the attack and a fourth died later as a result of wounds. There were also some injuries to other people.
The attack comes in the wake of a series of attacks on churches and Christians in northern Burkina Faso in recent months. They include one on 12th May in the town of Dablo which priest, Rev Simeon Yampa, was among the six killed and an attack on a Protestant church in Silgadji two weeks earlier in which at least six people were killed.
