It seems like many more than usual are coming to the end of their life. Some have wondered if God is taking all the good people before something bad happens.
I don’t think that’s true at all. It just so happens that 60 years ago television came to Australia. Over the proceeding decades, TV became a fixture in most Australian households.
Suddenly a vast variety of people became household names – people we felt we knew, from Australia and overseas, many more than we had known through radio and the flicks.
Sixty years. That generation is now passing away. We are entering a new normal in which the TV generation say goodbye to their heroes.
It’s sad, but it’s not the end of the world!
