When I first got glasses, I was adamant that reading glasses were for me.

I was worried that multi-focals would make me sick – which they can do for some people – so I chose single focus. My optometrist outlined the pros and cons of each but the decision was mine, and I made it.
I stuck with reading glasses for a couple of years. Found them frustrating. Continually took them off and on, slowly damaging them, and forever finding them dirty from my pocket.
Finally I tried multi-focals! Wow, what a revelation! So much better, they worked as soon as I put them on, and solved all my previous issues.
How many times have I convinced myself that my idea was right, without testing the alternatives? There’s a lesson in humility there!
