We are emotional beings much more than we want to admit. Emotions control us.

This is not a bad thing. Why? We make gut, emotional, instinctive decisions in a split second about all sorts of things; so that we get away from danger.
Our emotions – instincts – have ensured our survival. They have got us to here. They are right more than they are wrong. We need this instinct working for us as it takes way too long to think our way out of danger.
But that’s where it stops. In our safe, complex world, instinct can become a liability. Once, difference was danger – now it seeds prejudice. Instinct gets us so far, but we must overcome it to embrace sophisticated ideas like loving our neighbours and our enemies.
