You might have noticed, I’m not big on quoting Bible verses at you in these musings. I’d rather God snuck up on you.

There is one verse I’m sure you’ve heard – “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
This verse is often thrown at us as bad news or condemnation – all have sinned! That includes you, sinner!
But I see it as profoundly good news. All have sinned, all, everyone. Phew! I don’t have to pretend any more! I can take off my mask. We’re all sinners. We’re all in this together!
And the second half, not so well known, is even better – “and all are freely justified by God’s grace in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24).
Yes! No more striving. No more earning my way into heaven – freely justified! What good news.
