When you think about life like this, it quickly becomes apparent that the best way to live is to play in such a way that people want you in their team.
There’s nothing more devastating to life than no-one wanting to play with you. Divorced, unemployed, friendless. Few die in Australia from starvation, but many die from loneliness.
Play in such a way that people want you in their team. Be competent, not dominant, nice but not needy, considerate of others.
Jesus put it another way – treat others as you want to be treated. Because there is something worse than no-one wanting to play with you – God not wanting to play with you.
