Tributes have been flowing for prominent evangelical pastor Myles Munroe who died in a plane crash in the Bahamas on Sunday.
Dr Munroe, founder and president of Bahamas Faith Ministries International, was among nine people who died when the jet crashed as it came in to land at Freetown airport.
His wife Ruth was also killed in the crash as was Dr Richard H Pinder, senior vice president of BFMI, and other ministry leaders.
The group were reportedly on their way to the Global Leadership Forum – organised by Dr Munroe – taking place this week in Freeport.
A statement on the BFMI website said that words cannot express “our profound sense of loss for all of the team members on this tragic flight”. “Dr Munroe was our visionary, our founder, our mentor, advisor, father figure and friend,” it read. “He was a global leader and icon and was respected worldwide”.
Having founded the ministry in the 1980s, Dr Munroe is credited with writing dozens of books and being a sought-after preacher around the world.
