This Sunday Christians around Australia will mark the end of a week of prayer for the persecuted church around the world.
The International Days of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is an initiative started by ministry Open Doors and is aimed at encouraging Christians and churches to join each other in praying for the estimated 100 million Christians who are suffering for their faith.
While some countries marked an International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church on 4th November and others on 11th November, in Australia, the focus has been on the week ending this Sunday.
The week long event is being run in Australia in conjunction with the One With Them campaign which features a website on which Australian Christians are encouraged to express their solidarity with suffering Christians around the globe.
The site also provides the opportunity to sponsor Bibles and follow the story of a “secret believer”.
More than half a million churches in more than 150 countries are reportedly taking part in the day.
