ESCAPED CHIBOK SCHOOLGIRL REVEALS OTHERS STILL ALIVE, SAYS REPORT

20th October, 2015

Many of the more than 200 school girls still missing after they were abducted from Chibok in April last year remain alive and are being held captive by terror group Boko Haram in the Lake Chad region of the north-east Nigeria, according to one of the kidnapped girls who recently managed to escape.

Nigeria’s Saturday Vanguard has reported that one of the abducted girls escaped from her captors about two weeks ago and was found by Fulani herdsmen who, having confirmed she was a Chibok schoolgirl, helped her to get to Baga military base, where a multi-national joint task force charged with bringing an end to the Boko Haram insurgency is based.

The publication reported that once there, the girl said many of the abducted schoolgirls had been forcefully married to the terrorists and had become pregnant as well as being infected with sexually transmitted diseases.

The girl, who reportedly said she herself had been impregnated and contracted a sexually transmitted disease after being repeatedly raped, said there were about 60 girls at the camp where she was held with others living among border communities.

A total of 276 girls were abducted on 14th April, 2014, from the north-eastern town of Chibok, in Borno state, by members of the terror group Boko Haram. More than 200 are still missing.
