Australian Christian Lobby welcomes push for national ban on Wicked Campers’ “offensive” slogans

The Australian Christian Lobby has welcomed calls from Victoria’s Roads Minister Jaala Pulford for state and federal governments to ban the offensive slogans seen on the vehicles of Wicked Campers.

Pulford told ABC radio she had asked for the issue to be on the agenda of the next meeting of state and federal roads ministers.

Dan Flynn, state director of the ACL in Victoria, says the “offensive, violent and degrading slogans” seen on the vans should not be allowed on the roads.

The ACL says that while three states have banned the registration of the vans – and South Australia is considering similar legislation – the vans will likely continue to be seen on Australian roads unless a national approach is taken.

“It’s time for a national response to this blatant use of shock tactics which negatively impact our community,” said Flynn in a statement. “Nobody – let alone children – should have to see these kinds of offensive messages on roads and in public places like camping grounds.”
