This is a bit embarrassing.
When I was at university, I used to listen to my music collection in order, one tape – yes I did say tape – after another. Very regimented.
I think it was an over-developed sense of fairness towards the artist that I owned, or an overtly ordered personality! I didn’t even especially like all the albums I had.
Then one day, my girlfriend told me how ridiculous this was. Nicely of course. “If you like Newsboys, listen to Newsboys. If you’re in the mood for Sting, listen to Sting!”
Dab nabit, she was right. Again. Finally I was free in my musical selection!
Routine is good, helpful, excellent – but when followed with rigidity, rigour mortis sets in.
I wasn’t a total ignoramus; I was smart enough to marry my girlfriend!
