When I was a boy my dream was to play cricket for Australia. I made a pretty good go at it playing against names like Michael Slater and Adam Gilchrist at the state trials.
Along the way I realised that despite my best efforts, I just wasn’t good enough. I was a good cricketer, but to make it to the top, you had to be head and shoulders above the crowd.
It was a difficult thing to give up this dream.
I recognised that while it is great to dream big, to aim for the stars, it’s OK to change your dreams when reality bites; that is, to have your feet in the sand.
Now I’m an author, performer, pastor and radio personality, among other things; in a place that much better matches my skill set.
Aim for the stars, but keep your feet in the sand.
