DAVID ADAMS finds an app with an efficient method of committing Bible verses to memory…
An aid for the sometimes arduous (and at times seemingly impossible) task of memorising Bible verses, this app provides a simple, quick and effective method for committing Scripture to memory (as we write this, the app’s creators report that almost two million verses have been memorised!) You can import your selected verses (in any one of 10 different translations) or select a verse from the app’s extensive library (they’re arranged in some 55 categories). Once you’ve chosen the verse, you can attempt to memorise it using the app’s three step plan based around typing out the word. You can then choose to review it daily or weekly – you’ll get a reminder to that end – or move on and learn a new one once you’ve got it down. The free version (for iPhone and Android) allows you to store 50 verses at once, the pro version (available for $US12.99) lifts the limit and offers a host of other benefits such as the opportunity to use features like flashcards and illustrations and an audio recording system as well as take part in a ranking system (for the more competitive-minded). Other features include the chance to join and create ‘groups’ (a terrific idea for churches), and the opportunity to leave feedback via a message wall. A great way to increase your knowledge of the Word.
