• Zoom remains a staple of communication for many around the world during the coronavirus pandemic – and with it, bloopers. Pity the Texas lawyer, Rod Ponton, who was unable to turn off a filter which turned the image of his face into that of a cat while attending a virtual court hearing. “I’m here live, I’m not a cat,” Ponton can be heard saying during the hearing. Judge Roy Ferguson tweeted out a warning – including a clip from the hearing – in which he said: “IMPORTANT ZOOM TIP: If a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off. This kitten just made a formal announcement on a case in the 394th.” He later tweeted that Ponton, who had been using a borrowed computer, had handled the situation with “incredible grace”.

• What could be London’s “thinnest home” – measuring just two metres wide – has gone on the market. Located in Shepherd’s Bush in the city’s west, the five storey, two bedroom plus study property was originally a shop selling hats but was reportedly converted into a 96 square metre home home by fashion photographer Juergen Teller. Real estate agency Winkworth, who is handling the sale, describes the property as “unique, beautiful, stylish, and quite probably the thinnest house in London”. The Goldhawk Road property is being sold with an asking price of £950,000.
• Getting a carpark can be a fraught affair but one Chicagoan has come up with an innovative way of ensuring he can snag one. Adam Selzer, of West Ridge, has reportedly used frozen pairs of pants – moulded into the shape of the bottom half of a human figure – to stand on his sought-after park and reserve his place. “Polar vortex fun: pants with nobody inside them! Soak a pair, put outside. In about 20 minutes you can form them to shape, and in another 20 they’re solid,” he wrote in a Twitter post. He’s apparently now keen to try adding some shirts.
