Sometimes Christianity is sold as a ‘blessing train’ – “get on board and everything will be grand”.

That’s not the Christianity I know. Christianity for me makes sense of the pain, suffering – yet joy and love – in the world.
I’ve come to understand that Christianity is the permission and ability to crawl up into God’s lap, then slap God about the face, and beat Him in the chest as you cry “Why, why, why?” while He’s got His nail scared hands wrapped around you.
Life is hard. The cross of Christ is no good luck charm to ward off pain – Jesus found redemption and salvation through pain.
So we too can’t avoid pain and suffering. But we can sit in God’s lap and beat Him in the chest and sob while His nail scarred hands comfort and surround us.
