If you haven’t read Genesis, you are missing out on a huge chunk of our cultural foundation. Why not take a look?
God created the universe with words – information, coded data, says Paul Clark. PICTURE: Markus Spiske/Unsplash.
One of the profound things the book of Genesis tells us, against all other accounts, is that God created the universe with words – information, coded data.
In the time of Darwin, scientists expected that life would get simpler as they looked further down the microscope.
But rather than getting simpler as it got smaller, life has got more complex! Incredibly complex. Incomprehensibly complex!
Who could have foresaw DNA and the amazing biological machines down there that do all sorts of startling things. And guess what DNA is? Information, complex coded data.
Genesis was right – at the centre of life, creation, is information, not mindless matter but organised meaning.
How could such ancient writings get this so right?
