Gideon Bible App
Have the Bible at your fingertips with the Gideon Bible App (by Gideon’s International, the people who place Bibles in hotel rooms and a host of other places). Simply select your language and your version (the English language version offers three different versions – the English Standard Version and two versions of the King James, one with dramatic effects and the other without), and either read or listen to whichever New or Old Testament text you’d like to (the app has been developed with tech by Faith Comes By Hearing). The free app, which is available for both Apple and Android devices, also comes with a series of ‘helps’ to aid you in finding a Biblical text in answer to a particular situation, whether it’s for help in a time of need or with life problems, a page about making a decision to follow Christ and a ‘notebook’ feature which allows you to write notes, bookmark or highlight certain passages (although you have to log-in to access these features).
Three Minute Retreat
Need to take a moment to get back on track during a busy day? Loyola Press’ Three Minute Retreat app provides a simple way to press the pause button on your life for just a moment and turn your focus onto God. Each day comes with a new themed retreat (today’s was ‘Together for Eternity’) which includes a Bible verse, a short reflection upon it, and a couple of questions for you to consider along a short prayer. Comes with some soothing background music and is available in English and Spanish. The free app is available for Apple and Android devices.
