The story of Arthur Stace – Sydney’s Mr Eternity, a book on Martin Luther, a “Doubter’s Guide to Jesus” and a history of the Bible in Australia are among the 10 books short-listed for the 2018 SparkLit Australian Christian Book of the Year.
The list includes Roy Williams & Elizabeth Meyers Mr Eternity: The Story of Arthur Stace (Acorn Press), Mark Worthing’s Martin Luther: A Wild Boar in the Lord’s Vineyard (Morning Star Publishing), John Dickson’s A Doubter’s Guide to Jesus: An Introduction to the Man from Nazareth for Believers and Skeptics (Zondervan) and Meredith Lake’s The Bible in Australia: A Cultural History (NewSouth Publishing).
Also included are EP George’s The Bidura Effect (Ark House Press), Ken Morgan’s Pathways: Local Mission for All Kinds of Churches (Pathways 4 Mission), Chris Parker’s The Frog and the Fish: Reflections on Work, Sex, Technology, Stuff, Truth and Happiness (National Institute for Christian Education), Karl Faase’s (with George Marriott & Jane Faase) Jesus the Game Changer: The Book of the Series (Olive Tree Media), Brian Rosner’s Known by God: A Biblical Theology of Personal Identity (Zondervan), and Mike Steven’s The Glue: Relationship as the Connection for Effective Youth Ministry (Urban Zeal).
The winner, along with the winner of the Young Australian Christian Writer and Australian Christian Teen Writer Awards, will be announced at the SparkLit Awards Night in Melbourne on 16th August.
Last year’s Australian Christian Book of the Year was won by Our Mob, God’s story, a book of Indigenous art depicting stories from the Bible commissioned to mark the bicentenary of Bible Society Australia.
