Iranian pastor acquitted of apostasy thanks supporters

An Iranian pastor who spent almost three years in prison and sentenced to death for apostasy, has thanked those who supported him with their prayers during his incarceration.

Speaking at the national conference of UK-based group Christian Solidarity Worldwide earlier this month, Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani said the conference was an “opportunity for me to share about what the Lord did for me and to thank you because you supported me by your prayers, you supported my family in a very difficult time”.

“My prayer is I ask the Lord to bless you for what you did for me as a small member of the body of Christ. Today my presence here is the will of God and the result of what your prayers did for me.”

Sentenced to death for apostasy in 2010, his case sparked an outcry around the world. He was released on 8th September this year he was acquitted of apostasy but found guilty of evangelising Muslims. Although he was sentenced to three years imprisonment on the latter change, the sentence was deemed as time already served.
