Almost 6,000 people turned out across the three days of a series of events featuring US evangelist Will Graham in Alice Springs earlier this month with more than 800 of them responding to the invitation to accept Jesus Christ into their lives, many of them for the first time, according to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
Following the conclusion of the "Reality Alice Springs" event, Will Graham posted on his Facebook page that he was praising God for an "incredible three days" in which many had "put their faith in Christ and begun a relationship with Him".
A report on the BGEA website quotes Mr Graham as telling the crowd of 1,700 at Blatherskite Park on Saturday night "God doesn’t use Band-Aids" for people with broken lives. "God wants to completely change you. Salvation is a person and His name is Jesus."
Mr Graham was following a long family tradition of holding evangelistic events in Australia – both his father Franklin Graham and his grandfather, Billy Graham, have previously done so.
