The father of Asia Bibi – currently facing a death sentence after being found guilty of blasphemy – has been granted visitation rights to see his daughter, UCAnews has reported.
The Catholic news service said a lawyer for the family stated that Soran Masih had won the right to visit his daughter after petitioning the Lahore High Court.
The lawyer, Sardar Mushtaq Gill, was quoted as saying a judge had issued directives to the superintendent of the jail in Multan, where Bibi is being held, allowing Mr Masih and other family members to see her. He thanked the court for its "swift action".
Bibi, a mother of five and a Christian who is also known as Aasiya Noreen, was sentenced to death in 2010 for insulting the Prophet Mohammed – a charge she has repeatedly denied.
Her execution has been temporarily stayed pending an appeal in the Supreme Court.
