There’s a strange little verse in the Bible where Jesus says: “You can’t break in and steal a tyrant’s possessions unless you first tie up the tyrant.”

Is Jesus teaching His followers how to become master criminals? No, He was revealing His mission. He had come to bind Satan, and steal us back from that tyrant.
Now for most of our history, people understood our need for rescuing – we needed saving from this evil world!
But Satan is cunning. In the West he has made our prison cells so luxurious; filled with food, technology, titillation, wealth, and health; we don’t want to be rescued! We don’t think we need to be rescued until it’s too late. Until our mental, emotional or spiritual health has crashed.
The good news is God is still in the rescuing business, even from a life of too much!
