The Cross Museum

American Arthur Blessitt is world renowned for having carried a 12 foot tall cross into every country and major island group around the world – a journey of more than 67,000 kilometres long. Now 76-years-old, the Guinness World Record holder for the longest walk and his wife Denise have, following on from the 2009 documentary, The Cross: The Arthur Blessitt Story, launched a virtual museum exploring answers to some of the many questions he’s been asked – from how he carried the cross on airplanes to where he slept and what he ate and drank on his trips. So far only the first of four “rooms” in the museum has been opened but it features a series of videos in which Arthur explains such things as what the cross means to him, a walk-through a map of the places he’s visited and, of course, Arthur talking about the four crosses he’s carried across the globe as well as his diaries and artefacts he’s picked up along the way. The videos also features his wife Denise talking about her experiences and some of the stories behind her favorite images from Arthur’s walks. And there is, as one would expect, a video in which Arthur extends an invitation to the viewer to receive Jesus. The website is also linked to ‘The Official Website of Arthur Blessitt’ where there’s a plethora of further information on his travels. Whether you’ve followed his story closely or are just encountering it for the first time, The Cross Museum is a great place to find out more about one amazing journey in the cause of Christ.
