OM ship Logos hope celebrates three millionth visitor

Crew and staff aboard the OM vessel, the Logos Hope, have welcomed the ship’s three millionth visitor on board during a visit to the Phillipines city of Puerto Princesa.

Cyrille Ferando, a 20-year-old university student from the city, was welcomed aboard by Captain Dirk Colenbrander, director Lloyd Nicholas and crew members dressed in international costume. Ms Fernando was presented with a Bible, a book about the ship’s history and a picture of the ship as well as a voucher to spend in ship’s book fair.

Mr Nicholas said while the visitor milestone was “amazing”, “(e)ven more amazing is that three million people have experienced a moment of respect, of friendship, of love, and of hope as they have been welcomed on board, walked around the deck, met a crewmember and heard the message of God”s grace and love for them.”

Puerto Princesa was the vessel”s third port of call in the Philippines so far this year. The Logos Hope leaves Puerto Princesa today and is currently sailing to Kuching, Malaysia, where it is expected to arrive on 11th July.

Logos Hope has visited more than 70 different ports since it was launched into service in February, 2009. It’s the fourth in a line of ships that have been run by OM Ships International since it was begun by global Christian training and outreach movement, OM International in 1970.

The 400 staff and crew aboard Logos Hope aim to share God’s love in the ports in which the ship visits and also operate a book fair as well as bringing aid and relief in places visited.
