‘The Case for Christ’ wins best film award

The Case for Christ – the film which follows former Chicago Tribune reporter Lee Strobel’s journey to faith – has won best film at the International Christian Visual Media’s Gold Crown Awards.

The film, which was released by PureFlix and has grossed almost $US15 million, is based on a book of the same name that’s sold more than five million copies. As well as winning the gold award for best film, it also won gold for best evangelistic film and best drama over $250,000.

Storm & Luther’s Forbidden Letter won silver in the awards for best picture and Tortured for Christ won bronze as well as silver in the best evangelistic film category.

Winners in other categories in the ICVM Crown Awards include Come Before Winter (best drama under $250,000) and Out of the Ashes: CT Studd Cricketer & Missionary (best television format).

Jared Geesey, ICVM president, said the growing Christian film genre has now topped $US2 billion in total ticket sales.

“It’s a privilege for our association to play a part in encouraging, equipping, motivating and recognizing the talented men and women who bring stories of faith to the screen.”
