Leonardo Da Vinci’s ‘Last Supper’ recreated at the Bible DVD launch

High profile Christians took part in a public re-enactment of Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper in Sydney on Wednesday morning to mark the DVD release of the acclaimed TV series, The Bible.

THE LAST SUPPER: Surprised commuters were confronted with the recreation in Sydney’s First Fleet Park on Wednesday morning.

Morning commuters were treated to the lifesize creation which had appeared overnight in First Fleet Park in The Rocks.

Barry Southgate, X Factor finalist, and Tim Dunlop, of The Kyle and Jackie O Show, shared the role of Jesus while rugby league stars James and Paul Stevens played the sons of Zebedee, James and John. Other roles were played by professional ‘human statues’.

Mr Southgate says he was impressed by the authenticity of The Bible. “As a churchgoer, I’m keen to take part in anything that brings to life something I’m passionate about. The recreation has been spectacular – a genuine piece of ‘living art’.”

Nominated for three Emmys, The Bible was one of the highest rating shows of the year when it aired on Channel Nine in winter. It’s now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
