The Catholic Archbishop of Adelaide, Philip Wilson, has been found guilty of concealing child sexual abuse allegations made against another priest in a landmark case in New South Wales.
Archbishop Wilson is the most senior Catholic to be convicted of such an offence. He was accused of failing to report allegations of child sexual abuse made against a priest, Jim Fletcher, in the 1970s. Fletcher died in jail in 2006.
The case was heard before a Magistrate Robert Stone in Newcastle Local Court. The 67-year-old archbishop remains on bail pending his sentencing hearing on 19th June.
