A history of Australian Army chaplains, an examination of how the Gospel has ben proclaimed in Australia "loaded with the baggage of surburbia", and a guide to the Bible for "doubters" are among the books which appear on this year’s shortlist for the Australian Christian Book of the Year.
SparkLit has unveiled its shortlist for the award which will be presented along with awards for Young Australian Christian Writer and Teen Writer on 13th August.
The complete shortlist for Australian Christian Book of the Year includes:

• The Wisdom of Islam and the Foolishness of Christianity (Island View Publishing)
• Giving Generously by Rod Irvine (Barton Books)
• Jonathan Edwards and the Church by Rhys Bezzant (Oxford University Press)
• Captains of the Soul: A History of Australian Army Chaplains by Michael Gladwin (Big Sky Publishing)
• The Gospel of the Lord by Michael Bird (Eerdmans)
‚Äö√Ѭ¢ A Doubter’s Guide to the Bible by John Dickson (Zondervan)
• The Suburban Captivity of the Church by Tim Foster (Acorn Press), and
• Time Poor Soul Rich by Anne Winckel (Ark House Press).
