Bible Society Australia has given away more than 200,000 copies of a book telling the story of Christ’s birth since it was launched in late October.
The society offered the 28 page colourfully illustrated book, The Really Good News of Christmas, free to individuals and churches as part of its bicentennial celebrations.
It had expected to give away some 75,000 copies but said that figure has already been surpassed with more than 200,000 copies ordered since it was released. More than 1,300 churches and Christian organisations have placed orders for the book, including one church which ordered 4,000 copies. BSA has since revised its budget to allow for the free give-away of more than 250,000 of the books.
Written by poet Dai Woolridge with illustrations by Emma Randall, the book tells the Christmas story and points people to where it can be found in the Bible.
Individuals can still order up to three copies at www.biblesociety.org.au/reallygood. Churches, meanwhile, are invited to order as many copies as they believe they’ll need at www.biblesociety.org.au/goodnews. Those churches that do so will also be sent the ‘Instant Nativity’, a downloadable Nativity play and resource pack and a link to The Really Good News animated video for use by churches and youth groups to promote Christmas events or play in a service.
