NIGERIAN MILITARY REPORTEDLY KNOWS WHERE KIDNAPPED SCHOOLGIRLS ARE BEING HELD

27th May, 2014

The Nigerian military reportedly says it knows where the more than 200 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram are being held.

The chief of defence staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, said on Monday that the military knows where the girls, who were kidnapped from their school in the village of Chibok seven weeks ago, are being held but cannot say. He added that using force to free them was not possible.

A Reuters analysis of the situation in Nigeria shows that at least 470 people have been killed by Boko Haram since the girls were taken.
