Gary Regazzoli has announced his retirement from the position of chief executive of floating medical ministry Mercy Ships Australia.
Mr Regazzoli, who has been CEO for the past seven-and-a-half years, has spear-headed the Australian organisation’s fundraising efforts and assisted in promoting the organisation and recruiting people to serve as volunteers for the ministry.
“It has been very satisfying to see Australian support for the work being done by Mercy Ships continue to grow,” he says. “That has been particularly pleasing from a financial point of view during the recent difficult economic times.”
Almost 60 Australian volunteers serve overseas with Mercy Ships each year. Its ship, Africa Mercy, will begin service in the Republic of Congo this month.
Alan Burrell will take over from Mr Regazzoli in the newly created position of managing director.
