CALL FOR GLOBAL “PRAYER STORM” ON 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY

4th June, 2014

People in more than 30 nations will take part in a "prayer storm" on Friday, the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings during World War II.

The US organisers are calling on Christians to "scale the cliffs and attack evil" in their lives and nations on the day, likening the prayer mission to the way in which "thousands of brave men took the cliff of Normandy" in World War II.

"This June 6 is a momentous day both nationally and spiritually as it is the 70th anniversary of D-Day," the organisers said in a statement. "Since that day of God’s favor, we have allowed evil to creep back into our lives and in our nations. The weapons of our warfare this time are prayer, fasting and repentance…"

Inviting Christians to take part in a ‘prayer storm’ by setting aside time for prayer either individually or with others, the organisers said, referring to a verse in II Chronicles 7:14, that as "these prayer intercessors pray, fast and sincerely repent, we believe Almighty God will ‘hear from heaven, forgive our sin and heal our land".

The initiative is being co-sponsored by Capitol Hill Prayer Partners and the National Day of Repentance in the US.
