Compassion and TBN offer virtual Christmas carols service in UK

Compassion UK is joining with Christian TV network TBN UK to offer a free online virtual carols service early next month.

Carols with Compassion will feature a blend of traditional carols with modern Gospel music with artists including Martin Smith (performing with his daughter Elle Limebear), Noel Robinson, Graham Kendrick, Philippa Hanna, the London Community Gospel Choir, Hillsong London and Lurine Cato.

The event – which is being broadcast from St Mary’s Church in Willesden, London – will also feature poet and storyteller Dai Woolridge, Bible readings and a message from Richmond Wandera, a former Compassion-supported child who is now pastor of New Life Baptist Church in Kampala, Uganda.

English vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Martin Smith, one of those taking part, says it’s been “sad” not being able to worship live with people this year.

“But getting together on behalf of Compassion UK, singing these songs and meeting all our friends who we haven’t seen for a while meant there was a lot of joy in the room – we hope people feel that when they see the concert.”

Carols with Compassion will premiere in the UK on Wednesday 2nd December at 7:30pm local time on TBN UK (Freeview channel 65)  and then show on Compassion UK social channels (FacebookInstagram and YouTube) on Sunday, 6th December at 8pm.

Church leaders who want to share the event as part of their own Christmas services after the 6th December are invited to contact the Compassion UK churches team.
