Bible Society Australia CEO Greg Clarke has resigned after nine years at the helm.
In a statement, Anne Robinson, chairperson of the organisation’s board, said Dr Clarke had overseen an “unprecedented period” in the organisation’s history which included the amalgamation of six state bodies into one national body and the acquisitions of Eternity news service, the Centre for Public Christianity, retail book chain Koorong and publishing businesses Acorn Press and Morning Star Publishing.
Alongside that Robinson said the organisation had, meanwhile, “continued our international and local Bible mission work, providing funding for over 30 international projects every year and continuing our work to engage all Australians with the Bible, including indigenous Bible translation”.
“Greg also helped us celebrate 200 years of the Bible Society in Australia in 2017, and at the time hosted the United Bible Societies Roundtable with around 90 nations in attendance.”
Robinson said Clarke had told the BSA’s executive team that he believed now was the “optimal time to change leadership to continue the momentum for the next generation”.
Clarke will finish at the end of June and chief operating officer Melissa Lipsett will act as CEO until a new person is appointed to the role.
