The story of Jesus Christ is being explored in an eight episode series airing on the US TV channel HISTORY in the lead-up to Easter.
Jesus: His Life is told from the perspective of different Biblical figures, including his parents Mary and Joseph, John the Baptist, the High Priest Caiaphas, Jesus’ betrayer Judas Iscariot, Pontius Pilate, Mary Magdalene and the disciple Peter.
Mary Donahue, senior vice-president of programming and development for HISTORY, said the series “brings together some of the world’s top scholars, historians and faith leaders from diverse ideological and theological perspectives to tell the story of Jesus in a new way”.
“Viewers will see and experience the life of Jesus as never before, through this powerful and thought-provoking portrait of a man who is one of the most influential people in human history.”
Among those featured in the series are Bishop Michael Curry, presiding bishop and primate of the Episcopal Church in the US, Miroslav Volf, founder of the Yale Center for Faith and Culture and Professor of Theology at Yale University Divinity School, Scot McKnight, professor of New Testament at Northern Seminary, and Joel Osteen, senior pastor of Lakewood Church.
The series will premiere on HISTORY, part of A+E Networks, on 25th March with two episodes running back-to-back.
