Bodies of 34 Ethiopian Christians killed by IS to be repatriated after being discovered in Libya

The bodies of 34 Ethiopian Christians executed by the so-called Islamic State in Libya are being repatriated to Ethiopia following their discovery in a mass grave in December.

The Ethiopians were killed after IS terrorists seized the coastal city of Sirte in 2015. IS released a video in April that year purporting to show the deaths of more than 20 men described as Ethiopian Christians.

Their bodies were found on a farm near the city on 23rd December. Libyan authorities have confirmed the find and say they will now be repatriated.

The find follows the discovery of the bodies of some 20 Coptic Christians killed by IS in February, 2015, which were found near Sirte in 2017. They were returned to Egypt last year.

IS was ousted from Sirte in December, 2016.
