REVOLUTION OR RENEWAL?

If you study the rise and fall of civilizations, those which are not overcome by invaders, tend to follow a certain pattern.

Revolution or renewal

Revolution or renewal? Better the latter, says Paul Clark. PICTURE: Jerry Kiesewetter/Unsplash

After years of stability, the inequality of rich and poor gets worse and worse. There is a dissolution of morality and crime begins to rise, as the poor seek to survive, and vice runs rampant.

Governments struggle to stay in control, and there is either a revolution – or a renewal.

Revolutions are bloody. The have-nots take up arms to restore equilibrium, but they don’t always produce a better outcome.

A renewal is something different. It is a revitalization of a society as they rediscover, and re-embrace the values they were founded on, virtually always religious values.

Renewal is always preferable. It extends a civilization by centuries. Don’t wait for the revolution, become part of the renewal.

Paul Clark’s musings can be heard on radio across Australia and at atthetop.org.au.
