As someone who has stepped up and sacrificed to lead, from soccer coach to pastor, one thing I wish those on a team would do more readily is take direction!

Contrary to what most believe, leading, in most instances, is not putting yourself forward, but giving yourself – your time, your emotional energy – for others.
What turns the sacrifice into a joy, is when those in your fold listen. The team gels, you grow and you reach your goals.
I remember being a player and wanting someone to coach – “lead me, show me, I want to learn and grow and be part of a team!”
Great team players are not brainless zombies, but people who be at their best, add to the discussion, then take direction to fulfill their role.
How does God feel, ruling a world full of little mavericks, who won’t take direction?
