Atheists and sceptics alike bemoan the fact that God is not so obvious in the universe – “God, why don’t you show yourself!?” .

Yet the nature of the cosmos – freedom, free will and faith – demand that God’s intervention in life can only be about as much as the tilt on a pin ball machine.
Any more and the game is up! Life as we know it would be over. Everyone would know with absolute certainty that God existed. Faith and free will could no longer be maintained and we would move into a different mode of existence, or non-existence!
Of course, the irony is that God did show Himself. “Veiled in flesh the Godhead see” we sing at Christmas. Just enough tilt to be felt by those who are searching, but not enough to give the game away.
