Most of us don’t want God to intervene in our life. ‘Leave us alone!’ we say, until we are in trouble. Then we suddenly cry out to God, or blame God for not being the interventionist we didn’t want Him to be.

We can’t have it both ways; tell God to stay out of our life, them blame him for not cleaning up our mess. God is either involved in your life, or not.
We don’t realise God is not best seen as a first aid kit – there for emergencies – but as a best friend – enhancing all of life.
Perhaps the biggest irony of all is that one day God will give us precisely what we want. He’ll welcome those who welcome Him, and He’ll leave the rest alone. That’s how CS Lewis described hell. Being left alone.
