A friend shared something very profound with me recently. The stresses of life had brought on depression.
She felt worthless; like a failure and, understandably, she was asking where was God in all her suffering.
Yet in the midst of this turmoil, one profound thought had entered her mind. She realised that if she could just come to terms with this profound truth, she would be free and happy. What was the profound truth? My life is not my own.
Wow, if any of us could be reconciled with that truth, we would all be eternally happy; our life is not our own.
If we fight life and the Giver of life, we will be like spoilt children; forever unhappy. If we embrace the life given and the Life Giver, we might find ourselves exactly where we are supposed to be.
