We usually read about turning points in history – those monumental moments when everything changes. You don’t want to live through them.
A turning point? Demonstrators flee from teargas canisters during a protest against the military coup in Yangon, Myanmar, on 28th February. PICTURE: Reuters/Stringer.
We’re living through one right now. Global pandemic. Political pandemonium. Not just the US. Hong Kong. China. The Middle East. This is a turning point in history.
These turning points give us a chance to turn back to God. To remember that truth matters. That character and integrity in our leaders matters.
That if we think we can avoid reality, reality will bite us.
Now is a good time to re-commit to honesty. To loving the other, the neighbour, the Samaritan, our enemy.
To remember that unity isn’t achieved through force, but through understanding, compassion and love.
That’s how we’ll not just get through these moments, but come out better on the other side.
