Homesick for God?

In the West we have poverty, but it’s a different kind of poverty to the developing world.

Few people die of poverty in the West. But lots of people die of loneliness.

I heard recently someone define loneliness as “homesickness for God”. What a profound notion.

If we lived in a world created by God, the most tragic thing for us would be to live in that world, to instinctively feel God’s fingerprints all over everything – even if we weren’t consciously aware of it – and yet never have a relationship with that God.

Our soul would know something was missing – we were out of alignment with the universe.  What a horrible place to be.

But then to find that God and develop a connection – it would be like coming home, finding your place, the perfect pair of jeans!
